Course Syllabus
1: Plumbing Fundamentals & Safety
2 weeks
Introduction to plumbing trade; types of pipes (GI, PVC, CPVC, PPR, PEX) and fittings; safety protocols on site; use of personal protective equipment (PPE); understanding plumbing drawings and symbols.
2: Pipe Joining & Fittings
3 weeks
Cutting, threading, bending and joining techniques; solvent welding for PVC/CPVC; compression fittings; soldering copper pipes; PPR welding machine operation; testing joints for leaks.
3: Water Supply Systems & Fixtures
3 weeks
Installation of water meters, pumps, overhead tanks; fixing taps, mixers, showers, geysers; toilet fixtures – WC, flush tanks, urinals; sink and washbasin installation; water softeners & purifiers.
4: Drainage, Sewage & Vent Systems
3 weeks
Layout of drainage lines; slope calculation; traps, gully traps, manholes; sewage pipe installation; septic tank & soak pit; vent pipe systems; inspection chambers; maintenance of drains.
5: Repair & Maintenance
2 weeks
Detecting and fixing leaks in pipes and joints; tap/faucet repair; unclogging drains & toilets; using drain auger, hydro-jet; replacing valves, float valves; repairing flush systems.
6: Modern Plumbing Systems & Green Plumbing
2 weeks
Rainwater harvesting systems; solar water heating connections; installation of water-saving fixtures; greywater recycling; basics of fire sprinkler systems; use of modern tools (pipe laser level, inspection camera).
7: Estimation, Billing & Business Skills
1 week
Material estimation for a project; preparing quotations; billing and GST basics; customer communication; safety standards and codes; entrepreneurship in plumbing services.
